This package can only begin on Fridays to match the fast boat schedule. Departures on other days require a chartered fast boat which will influence the rate significantly.

It is recommended to prepare a backpack and not a suitcase for this trip as participant must carry it while trekking in the jungle to the Mentawai village -a trek of about 2.5 hours. Otherwise, it is possible to book a porter to carry  suitcases with an additional cost.

Upon arrival at Minangkabau International Airport in Padang, be greeted by the local guide and transfer to the  hotel.

After checking in, the rest of the day is free to spend at leisure. Hang out at the hotel or head out for a bit of independent exploration, being sure to save plenty of time for rest in advance of the adventure that begins on the following day.

📍 Transfer from Padang to Harbour (8.5 km): 25 minutes Transfer by fastboat from Harbour to Muara Siberut: 3 hours Transfer by motorized canoe from Muara Siberut to Rorogot: 1 hour (depend on weather) Trekking: 2 hours 30 minutes Difficulty : Easy

After an early breakfast, begin the journey to Muara Siberut, in Mentawai Archipelago. 

This is one of the major islands in Mentawais which consist of about seventy islands in all. Of the four islands inhabited by the Maura Siberut, of local tribe – Muara Siberut. The difficulties in communication and transportation make the island of Siberut difficult to reach for outsiders.
Upon arrival at Muara Siberut, register with authorities to receive a permit to have an overnight stay at the tribal village.

Afterwards, continue on a journey by motorised canoe to a secluded area known as Rorogot. After reaching this area, disembark the boat and begin trekking through the jungle until reaching Bat Osap Village, the Mentawai Tribe base area.

While staying at Bat Osap Village, stay in a traditional uma, a traditional Mentawai-style family home. Here, where conditions are very basic with no bed, no AC and limited electricity, gain unique insight into the lives of people whose belief system maintains complete  harmony with nature.

Dinner is provided by the host family.

Note: This is not a watered down trip that merely resembles adventure. Because of the remoteness of the island and the fact that it is truly in a wild area, there are no toilets on the island. The porter will bring toilet paper and secure an area for guests to relieve themselves in privacy. Also, throughout the stay, bathing will take place in the river. Welcome to the jungle.

For the next two days, experience the daily activities of the Mentawai tribe in a truly immersive cultural experience.

Trek deep into the virgin forest while hunting or fishing with the natives. Sit together while making sago powder, the main food source for the Mentawai tribe. Learn how to make a loincloth from the bark of tree the traditional way and wear it if you’re brave enough. Make poison to place on the tip of arrows to be used in hunting. More generally, learn how to live in the jungle as the Mentawai have for centuries.

Throughout the activities, the guide will be present to explain things carefully and ensure that the experience is as safe and enjoyable as possible.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided by your caretaker at the native’s house.

Enjoy one last morning with the tribe with breakfast at the house. Afterwards, bid the hosts farewell and head back through the jungle.
After reaching the boat, transfer to Padang by motorised canoe from Rorogot to Muara Siberut and continue by fast boat to Padang.

Upon arrival in Padang, transfer to the hotel. After check-in, spend the remainder of the day at leisure and enjoy lunch at a  local restaurant.

Depending on your flight schedule, the day as leisure until you meet your guide and driver at hotel for your transfer to airport for your departure flight.
